In the alchemical tradition, the Rubedo indicates the latest phase of the Great Work, that moment in which the solid matter is completely transmuted by identifying itself to full with spirit: it’s time for the awareness, of openness to life, of the tolerance and acceptance; its color is red, its natural element is fire and the Phoenix the main symbol (as a creature capable of reborn from its own ashes).
In addition to the numerous references that it encloses, the Rubedo represent also a brief stage of grace that determines the closing a circle.
To celebrate the reopening of Museums and Libraries - scheduled according to the latest ministerial decree for May 18, 2020 - Metodo Milano's tunnel becomes the ideal place to host the event conceived by Valerio Veneruso. Through an impromptu live broadcast, which will be transmitted at 8:50 PM - local sunset time - by Metodo Milano's Instagram channel, you will have the opportunity to cross the space letting yourself be invested by the video RUBEDODOOM: a flashing of stroboscopic light that invades the end of the tunnel itself.
Through a process of frantic overlapping of images and informations (typical of the Internet dimension), the work presented reveals a sequence of paradoxical instructions useful to accommodate metaphorically a new life cycle. Typical languages of today’s pop culture (how can they be the animated GIFs) merge with hermetic practices to create a layering of layers that converts the whole project in an experience for everyone and no one.
ABOUT
Metodo Milano is an Unconventional Visual Art Space open to sharing and experimenting in contemporary artist practices. Its name is inspired by construction techniques for urban galleries. The space, a real tunnel that connects two streets is located inside a garage. Artists from national and International territory are invited to create works born in close contact with a space with a strong character. The idea stems from a need of the artist Maurizio Bongiovanni to create a meeting point in the city of Milan. The space is happy to evaluate artistic projects and collaboration.
